If You Photograph, They Will Come

I have been photographing Reagan’s family for years. Funny story, we first connected over the fact that she had just been hired to teach at the very same school I had just left. It was a little way in which our worlds had collided that created a connection to build upon. And first impressions, that’s a whole other story. At our first session, I showed up only to find that when I set down my camera bag to hug my kids when I left the house, that somehow I had forgotten to pick it back up and put it in the car before leaving for their session. So, in a nutshell, I showed up without a camera, which was quite a big detail. Luckily my husband was able to Mock One my camera to me to save the day, and allow us to make the most of the golden light before it was too late.

So, when Reagan called and said they would be at their family’s ranch over Thanksgiving and were hoping to do an extended family session, I was thrilled. Not only was I gong to be able to reconnect with a friend, but also do what I love. Their beautiful ranch just so happened to not be far from me after our move, so it was a perfect opportunity to continue doing what we started many years ago.
